One night that was especially precious to me was the Teen Devo that I got to participate in last week. The teen group at Sunvalley is small, but it has a lot of potential. The Devo was lead by Mr. Plunk who moved here with his family a couple of years ago. Their son Michael is the same age as my brother DeJean. We "broke the ice" by playing some games from the popular TV show Minute to Win It. This included stacking soda cans and paper plates in an upside-down pyramid and trying to roll a quarter into the space between the tines of a fork. After a few minutes we sang a few songs together. To budget time, we then got our pizza and ate during the lesson which included a short video about a grocery bagger who made it his goal to improve his customers' day. We talked about different ways we could serve God and the church. Mr. Plunk was glad I was there for the lesson, because AIM turns out to be a great example for such a lesson. After the lesson we sang a couple more songs and then closed with announcements and a prayer. We all hung around for a few minutes to visit and clean up the room we had used. It was a great time!
However many good things must come to an end; and sometime just temporarily. I'm going to miss my church family a lot, but I know that we'll always be in eachothers' prayers.
I leave Mesa via airplane on Wednesday with all my gear for Lubbock. In Lubbock, I plan to attend the wedding of my Mission term assistants. My whole team will meet up there and fly together for Ukraine!
Godspeed!
